Detection sensitivity for any given PCR assay and sample is ultimately limited by how much of the sample can be used as template DNA in the reaction mixture. Typically, a DNA-extraction procedure yields 50-200 µL of prepared DNA, which is more than can be fitted into a 20-50 µL PCR reaction. AmpXpress allows clinicians and scientists to make use of more of the sample than any other platform by allowing rapid and efficient PCR reactions in volumes up to 100 µl. This is twice as much as other Fast PCR platforms and is particularly valuable for pathogen detection assays, e.g. sepsis, where maximum sensitivity is required
