Gordon founded Alpha Helix in March 2019 after he bought out Nexus Corporate Finance, a business he co-founded in 2016, from the wider Nexus Group. The vision is to establish a trusted advisor specialising in UK mid market health and education businesses. Gordon has over twenty years' experience of advising healthcare companies, both public and private, on a range of transactions and financial products. Gordon studied Pharmacology at the University of Aberdeen followed by a PhD in Pharmacology at Cambridge University. Gordon qualified as an ACA with Arthur Andersen where he worked in the Healthcare Corporate Finance team in both London and New York. Gordon spent five years in Citigroup's healthcare team working in both New York and London. Gordon led the life science team at Deloitte Corporate Finance and Healthcare team at ING prior to joining Cavendish where he spent six years advising on the sale of healthcare businesses.

As a Director within our team, Sam plays a pivotal role in leading healthcare transactions, drawing on over a decade of experience in providing strategic and transactional advice to owner-managed businesses and corporates. His sector expertise spans critical areas, including independent NHS partnerships, mental health services, healthcare technology, multi-site retail clinics, and diagnostic services. Prior to joining Alpha Helix, Sam worked for Darwin Alternatives, an asset-backed alternative investment fund focused on the UK leisure sector. Sam is a CFA charterholder and has passed the IMC exams. He also has a Geography degree from the University of Bristol.

Bettina joined Alpha Helix as an analyst in September 2019. She is responsible for assisting Gordon with deal coordination. Prior to joining Alpha Helix, Bettina was an intern at Nexus Investments where she was responsible for performing due diligence on EIS qualifying companies seeking investment. She has a BSocSc degree in Social Anthropology from The University of Manchester.
