Gordon Hamilton
Managing Director
Dr Gordon Hamilton is the founder and Managing Director of Alpha Helix. He leads the firm, taking personal responsibility for client relationships and leads with hands-on involvement in transactions from inception through to completion. With a focus on UK mid-market healthcare businesses, he is a trusted advisor to owners, management teams and investors navigating mergers, acquisitions and business sales, providing long-term advice to clients. Gordon brings over twenty years of specialist healthcare finance experience to his clients. He trained as an ACA with Arthur Andersen's Healthcare Corporate Finance team in London and New York, before spending five years in Citigroup's healthcare division across both cities. Following six years at Cavendish Corporate Finance, as healthcare partner, he founded Alpha Helix in 2016. Gordon holds a degree in Pharmacology from the University of Aberdeen and a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Cambridge, giving him an unusually thorough understanding of the businesses and sectors he advises.

As a Director within our team, Sam plays a pivotal role in leading healthcare transactions, drawing on over a decade of experience in providing strategic and transactional advice to owner-managed businesses and corporates. His sector expertise spans critical areas, including independent NHS partnerships, mental health services, pharma services, healthcare technology, multi-site retail clinics, and diagnostic services. Prior to joining Alpha Helix, Sam worked for Darwin Alternatives, an asset-backed alternative investment fund focused on the UK leisure sector. Sam is a CFA charterholder and has passed the IMC exams. He also has a Geography degree from the University of Bristol.

Bettina joined Alpha Helix's Healthcare Advisory team in 2019. She supports and executes both buy-side and sell-side transactions for clients, with sector expertise spanning veterinary services, healthcare services, outsourced services, healthcare IT, and diagnostics. In addition to deal execution, she provides strategic advice to a number of the firm's clients. Prior to Alpha Helix, Bettina interned at Nexus Investments, investing in EIS qualifying companies across the health, education and tech sectors. She holds a degree in Social Anthropology from The University of Manchester.
